Lesson 7: Places to see before you die [vocabulary, reading, speaking]
Dec 31st
There are two perfect moments for this lesson. One is just before the holiday, when people start seriously planning their travels and are eager to talk about it. The second moment is in the middle of winter, especially here in Poland – although this lesson is usually a lot more nostalgic!
There are two websites suggested for use with the worksheet. Normally, I would recommend the “1000 places to see before you die” website. However, recently there has been some confusion around the site, possibly connected with the new edition of the book. Therefore, it’s wise to check the website before the lesson – and use the Escape magazine as back-up if necessary.
A brilliant follow-up to this is a bring-and-share type of class, in which students are encouraged to talk about their holiday photos. With careful staging and lots of scaffolding work, even pre-intermediate groups can enjoy this.
