About the lessons

The best way to find out about the lessons offered on English-plan.com is to apply for the demo pack. In fact, you’re just a step away from doing so (simply use the form on the right)! If you want to learn more about our lessons – you’ll find their 5 most common characteristics below. The worksheets and lesson plans will obviously vary, but there are some features most of them will share:

1. Our lessons will get students talking in no time.

1. Communicative focus. This does not simply mean “creating a worksheet full of communicative tasks”. The lessons are designed to maximize pairwork and groupwork. Students may engage in an interview, or work together to write something – but at all times, they are encouraged to create something meaningful together. This means that even the lighter, more “chatty” lessons you’ll find and download here will give students plenty of talking time.

2. Engaging tasks for students? Check!

2. Task-based structure. Most often, the comments I hear when delivering a lesson based on these worksheets is “that was really practical”. Not every lesson needs to focus on learning things in an explicit way. Sometimes it may be useful to show your students that there are tasks (such as finding information about gallery opening times, planning their route on the subway or analyzing statistics) which they can already do in English. Of course there will be difficulties and mistakes involved: that’s where the learning and reflection should take place.

3. Internet-based EFL lessons no longer need to confuse your teachers.

3. Internet-based. This has often been an unexpected source of confusion in my teaching: there’s a lot of resources out there which I should be using! Why do I waste my students’ time showing them another YouTube clip? Couldn’t I come up with something more productive? As time went by, the ideas started to appear.

Internet-based lessons don’t have to be difficult to plan or prepare – and they definitely don’t have to involve a 90-minute staring contest with your monitors! If you have access to Internet at work – even a couple of laptops or netbooks will do – then you’re all set to deliver dozens of instant lessons from English-plan.com.

4. Put the "Smart" back into "SmartBoard" with our IWB resources.

4. IWB – friendly. There might be one piece of equipment in your classroom which is particularly guilt-inducing. “I should be using this” is something many teachers must have thought when looking at their shiny, new, unused interactive whiteboards…English-plan.com can help. In most cases, the work students prepare on their computers can be projected onto an IWB for easier (and more motivating!) presentations. There are also some lessons being designed with interactive whiteboards in mind – don’t miss out on those!

5. Are your students up for a challenge? Keep them motivated with our worksheets.

5. Authentic. What do you do with a group whose attitude to learning can be summed up in four words: “been there, done that”? How do you bring the spark back in a class which suffers from “coursebook overdose”? Our instant lessons may be the answer. The language the students will be dealing with is authentic, un-graded English. This is obviously challenging, but also immensely rewarding. Both for groups who think they’ve seen it all, and for learners fed up with textbooks, it’s the perfect solution.
